Arts Residencies
We will be happy to tailor a residency based upon your needs,
however the following guidelines might be helpful in planning your residency:
Materials:
Materials are simple; number 2 pencils, plain white copier paper, and black felt-tip or roller ball pens.
Handouts:

8.5" X 11" reproducible TOONBULLETIN© handouts of EXPRESSIONS/ GESTURES/ HANDS AND FEET/ ANIMALS/and SYMBOLS are made available to be photocopied for students participating in the residency.
Contact time:
Resident artists will teach up to four classes a day, each up to an hour in length. We recommend that at least one of these classes (a core group) continues throughout the residency.
Planning:
Planning is done by the school and artists together, paying attention to content and eventual outcome of the residency. A planning day should be arranged before the residency. This is usually a paid day for the artist. Check with us about your planning time.
Residency Length:
A residency may be five days or more. Shorter visits, including assemblies, programs and library visits are also available. For more information on library and one-day visits refer to those places on this web site.
Community Events:
These are encouraged to showcase the work of the students. and can be important in building esteem. If the artist is available, she/he will attend and participate along with the students.
Cartooning Basics Book Signings:

The award winning how-to-cartoon book CARTOONING BASICS will be made available at residencies and school visits. Duane or Angie will be happy to autograph each book purchased.
Here's what Jim Davis says about CARTOONING BASICS:
"...Cartooning Basics is an entertaining read and a wonderful how-to for the beginning cartoonist or for anyone who wants to improve their drawing skills. ...What are you waiting for? Grab your paper and pencil and start having some fun?
